Intertek attains full accreditation as a GRMA Certification Body
23 Sep 2026
Accreditation across all three GRMA GMP scopes expands customer access to NSF/ANSI 455 certification while strengthening Intertek’s global health and wellness assurance portfolio.
Boxborough, MA: Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has attained full approval and accreditation as a Certification Body (CB) for the Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA) Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification program.
Through Intertek Business Assurance, customers globally can now access accredited certification audits across all three GRMA scopes: NSF/ANSI 455-2 for dietary supplements, NSF/ANSI 455-3 for cosmetics, and NSF/ANSI 455-4 for over-the-counter (OTC) drugs.
This global accreditation strengthens Intertek’s ability to help manufacturers demonstrate conformity with recognized GMP requirements and meet the expectations of retailers, marketplaces, and other stakeholders in the health and wellness sector. With accredited certification available across all three scopes, customers can work with Intertek to address multiple product categories through a single global assurance provider.
For manufacturers, increased CB capacity within the GRMA program provides greater choice and scheduling flexibility. For manufacturers with facilities and supply chains operating across multiple markets, Intertek’s network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in over 100 countries enables consistent management of certification requirements as their operations grow.
The accreditation also applies to qualifying audits conducted by Intertek during the accreditation process. Facilities audited during this period may be eligible to receive accredited certificates following an established desktop review process, helping customers preserve the value of audits already completed.
For Intertek, full GRMA accreditation expands its certification capabilities in the growing health and wellness sector and strengthens its position with manufacturers, brands, retailers, and marketplaces seeking independent assurance of GMP performance. It also creates opportunities to support customers more broadly across Intertek’s industry-leading Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification services as they manage product quality, regulatory requirements, supply chain risk, and market access.
“Achieving full accreditation across all three GRMA GMP scopes is an important milestone for Intertek and, most importantly, provides our customers with greater access to trusted, accredited certification,” said Mark Thomas, Executive Vice President, Assurance, Sustainability, Agriworld & Food. “Manufacturers are increasingly looking for efficient ways to demonstrate GMP performance and meet the expectations of retailers and marketplaces. By combining GRMA certification with Intertek’s international network and broader assurance capabilities, we can help customers simplify their approach to compliance while supporting their growth across markets.”
Strengthening confidence in GMP certification
GRMA partnered with the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to establish a rigorous accreditation process for Certification Bodies participating in its GMP certification program. The process evaluates the competence, integrity, and consistent application of the NSF/ANSI 455 standards before a CB is authorized to issue accredited certificates.
The NSF/ANSI 455 family of standards provides sector-specific GMP requirements for dietary supplements, cosmetics, and OTC drugs. As an accredited CB, Intertek can provide manufacturers with independent certification that helps demonstrate their commitment to product quality, manufacturing controls, and recognized industry requirements.
Intertek’s addition to GRMA’s roster of fully accredited Certification Bodies also supports the continued expansion of the program by increasing audit capacity and extending access to certification through the company’s global network.
